ICES program community visits in September

During September, the ICES program against domestic violence carried out various visits to communities in the municipalities of La Trinidad, San Nicolás, and Estelí. The main objective was to provide psychological and psychosocial care, as well as offering educational talks on key topics such as child abuse, domestic violence, sexual and reproductive health, and the effects of substance use.

Additionally, as part of their professional development, nursing, psychology, and social work students from UNAN Managua, CUR Estelí, participated in the workshops of psychosocial training seminars. These were facilitated by the ICES program, Dr Luz López from Boston University, and Lyn Styczynski and Lenny Greenberg from their Family Institute.

The main topic covered in these courses was: the comprehensive dimension of sexual abuse from therapeutic and multidisciplinary approaches, addressing points such as: a holistic understanding of sexual abuse, intervention with the family, and formation and uses of support networks.
