Dot House Health Medical Brigade 2026

This year the medical brigade coordinated from Dot House Health provided care in ten rural communities around Estelí for two weeks from February 9th to February 22nd in coordination with Nicaragua’s Ministry of Health’s, the local health authority for the department of Estelí and Superemos.

The Superemos Foundation provided logistical and administrative support for this medical brigade as well as support from our ICES program addressing domestic violence. The brigade participants from the US provided mainly pediatric care so Superemos also arranged the participation of three local doctors so as to ensure sufficient care for adult patients.

The brigade provided care to a total of 636 children and 1366 adults, distributed in the above 10 communities in four municipalities of the department of Estelí. In coordination with the Health Ministry (MINSA) the brigade made possible a total of 2,266 laboratory examinations and tests of different kinds as well as a total of 3,236 consultations in the areas of Psychology, Pediatrics, General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Natural Medicine and Dermatology.

We are especially grateful to the MINSA staff of all the communities the brigade was able to serve, since without their coordination and communication with the local population we could not have helped so many people. We also thank our colleagues of local health authority in Estelí and the staff of MINSA’s central office in Managua who are always supportive of the necessary arrangements to ensure the participation of medical personnel from the US and the inputs they bring as donations.

Thank you to everyone who supported this medical brigade with encouragement and financial help.
