Optometry Brigade, coordinated by Dr. Godoy from Sweden

From November 30 to December 10, Dr. John Godoy and his colleagues from Sweden provided optometry services in the departments of Estelí and León, prioritizing elderly and low-income residents. During their visit to Estelí Dr. Godoy and his team treated a total of 375 people, in one of the big local cigar factories, in La Montañita a rural community just outside Estelí, people in the local municipal rubbish dump and also people here at the Superemos community center. All the patients received the eye glasses they needed according to their prescription or vision problem. A donation of 370 pairs of glasses was also made to the Institute for the Elderly in Managua so that they could also benefit from this important visit.
