Estelí Women's School activities August 2026

The Estelí Women’s School continued its activities successfully through August in close coordination with the Ministry of Education. The total number of current active students is just over 280 of whom 156 are women students. including 89 women students with either a full or a half scholarship covering their monthly tuition.

Apart from the normal program of classroom activities, this month has also seen the 46th Anniversary of the National Literacy Crusade recognized by UNESCO at the time for reducing literacy in Nicaragua from around 60% to around 12% in a mass mobilization of students and teachers across the rural areas of Nicaragua lasting almost four months ifr5om May to August 1980. Three of our teaching staff, director Bertha Sanabria, and educators Lus Danelia Ruiz and Gustavo Sanabria, who were students at the time, took part in the crusade and were honored by the Estelí Women’s School students for their role in that historic event.
