Dental medicine brigade from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University

During the month of April, a rprogram of preventive and curative dental medicine was carried out involving 12 preschools in the urban area of Estelí with a total of over 900 children. Directors and educators of the 12 Child Development Centers (CDI) involved helped organize preventive care for 780 children via applications of fluoride varnish and distribution of tooth paste and toothbrushes. Toegther the dental medicine faculty of National Francisco Lopez Espinoza University in Estelí, the brigade provided clinical care to 200 children from the participating preschools. We are very grateful to Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine and to the brigade coordinator Dr. Michelle Henshaw for making possible the provision of this care for children in Estelí. Additionally we very much appreciate the indispensable support of the National Francisco Lopez Espinoza University in Estelí and the Ministry of the Family which supervises the participating preschools.
