ICES program against domestic violence in August
The ICES project began in August with a session with the team of health workers from the rural communities of the municipality of San Nicolás, taught by Dr. Luz López on line from Boston and the ICES team (Karen Villarreyna and Jailenne Herrera) in order to strengthen the health workers’ capacities identifying different cases that may arise during medical consultation allowing them later to refer patients to the appropriate psychological/psychosocial care.
Also during the month the ICES team held talks at various rural health posts addressing issues about the effects on families of substance use. The team held a very successful workshop at the Puertas Azules school on self-care and prevention of sexual abuse. The program provided care to a total of 41 patients including three cases requiring legal guidance.
